Chronic gastritis is defined as the inflammation or irritation of the lining of the stomach. The inflammation in gastritis is commonly the result of infection with the same bacterium which is the main cause for most stomach ulcers. The other reason for gastritis are alcohol consumption, caffeine intake, and stress.
